Where to find your Longines serial number
On vintage Longines the serial is engraved on a bridge of the movement — a watchmaker opens the caseback to read it. From the 1990s onward the number also appears on the outside of the caseback. Beware: numbers stamped inside the case back are usually case reference numbers, not the movement serial used for dating.
After 1969: what the serial can and cannot tell you
Precise published charts stop in the late 1960s. For higher serials our tool returns a broad range only. For an exact date, Longines offers an official Archive Extract through its Heritage department: invoice date, calibre and the original retailer, drawn from the manufacture’s own registers — one of the finest archive services in the industry.

My serial is above 15 million — why is the result so broad?
Longines’ precise public charts end in the late 1960s. For modern pieces, the official Longines Archive Extract gives the exact production date.
Does the serial number prove authenticity?
