Omega Serial Number Check & Lookup — Date Your Omega Watch

Enter your Omega serial number to estimate its production year. On Omega watches the serial is the movement number — usually engraved on a bridge of the movement, and on more recent models on the caseback or lugs.

Note: Omega serials are movement numbers, so expect ±2–3 years of accuracy. From ~2007 onward, Omega uses PIC/random numbering that can’t be dated by serial alone.

How to check an Omega serial number and find its year

Unlike Rolex, Omega never reset its serial numbers — they run in one continuous sequence from the 1890s onward. Comparing your number against the reference charts gives the production year of your Omega to within a couple of years. It’s the first check before buying or selling a pre-owned Omega — browse our pre-owned Omega watches.

Where to find your Omega serial number

Because the Omega serial is usually the movement number, on vintage pieces you often have to open the caseback to read it on a bridge of the movement. From the early 1990s, Omega also placed the number on the exterior — sometimes on the back of a lug, sometimes on the outside of the caseback.

Real example from our workshop: Omega calibre 321, the legendary Speedmaster chronograph movement. The serial engraved on its bridge — 26 544 133 — dates it to circa 1968.

On a mid-century Omega Automatic like this one, nothing is engraved on the outside: a watchmaker opens the caseback to read the serial on the movement.

Omega Speedmaster serial number check

On a Speedmaster, the serial number is usually engraved on the case back — on vintage Moonwatches (105.012, 145.022) it sits inside the case back or on the movement, while modern Speedmasters carry it on the exterior, often near the lugs. Enter it in the checker above to estimate the production year, then cross-reference the caseback reference. Vintage Speedmaster values depend heavily on matching serial and reference eras, so this check is a standard step before any purchase.

Omega Seamaster serial number check

Seamaster serials follow the same sequences as the rest of the Omega catalogue: on older models (Seamaster 300, bumper-era Seamasters) look on the movement or inside the case back; on modern Diver 300M and Aqua Terra models the number is laser-engraved on the case exterior. The checker above covers all Seamaster generations — and if the year it returns clashes with the model’s known production window, that mismatch is worth investigating before you buy.

Whichever model you own, the same online check works: no registration, instant result, and honest caveats — Omega serial batches were not always used in strict order, so treat any year as an estimate within one or two years. Frequently asked questions

Why does the Speedmaster use a different chart?
The Speedmaster — Omega’s most famous collection and the first watch worn on the Moon — follows its own serial sequence. Tick the “Speedmaster” box above so the tool uses the correct chart.

Is the dating exact?
No. Movement parts could be assembled into a complete watch much later, so a date can be off by a few years. Treat the result as an estimate (±2–3 years).

Does the serial number prove authenticity?
No. A plausible number is reassuring, but only a full expert inspection (movement, engravings, finishing) can authenticate a watch — that’s our craft at Heure Miroir.

What is my vintage Omega worth?
Model, condition and production year all affect value.

Jules Laluc-Ruisseaux, founder of Heure Miroir. Every watch that enters our stock is opened, inspected and authenticated — movement, engravings, finishing — before it is offered for sale. A serial number is a first clue; our job is everything that comes after.
