Omega Serial Number Lookup — Date Your Watch

Enter your Omega serial number to estimate its production year. On Omega watches the serial is the movement number — usually engraved on a bridge of the movement, and on more recent models on the caseback or lugs.

Note: Omega serials are movement numbers, so expect ±2–3 years of accuracy. From ~2007 onward, Omega uses PIC/random numbering that can’t be dated by serial alone.

How to date an Omega by its serial number

Unlike Rolex, Omega never reset its serial numbers — they run in one continuous sequence from the 1890s onward. Comparing your number against the reference charts gives the production year of your Omega to within a couple of years. It’s the first check before buying or selling a pre-owned Omega — browse our pre-owned Omega watches.

Where to find your Omega serial number

Because the Omega serial is usually the movement number, on vintage pieces you often have to open the caseback to read it on a bridge of the movement. From the early 1990s, Omega also placed the number on the exterior — sometimes on the back of a lug, sometimes on the outside of the caseback.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Speedmaster use a different chart?
The Speedmaster — Omega’s most famous collection and the first watch worn on the Moon — follows its own serial sequence. Tick the “Speedmaster” box above so the tool uses the correct chart.

Is the dating exact?
No. Movement parts could be assembled into a complete watch much later, so a date can be off by a few years. Treat the result as an estimate (±2–3 years).

Does the serial number prove authenticity?
No. A plausible number is reassuring, but only a full expert inspection (movement, engravings, finishing) can authenticate a watch — that’s our craft at Heure Miroir.

What is my vintage Omega worth?
Model, condition and production year all affect value.
